
7 Personas for Every Project
What are the Personas?
Every consulting engagement has seven (7) personas (or “roles” that team members play). These resources bring specific talent and experience that advance important aspects of the initiative. In my experience, every healthcare organization has 3-5 of these Personas inhouse – and we can empower and evolve these leaders by giving them an important role in the project.
Administrative Connector
• Ensures the appropriate depts are informed
• Understands the political climate and hurdles
• Focuses on future state success, tracking
• Likely will assume responsibility for execution
Clinical Executive/Liaison
• Provides strategic direct/connectivity
• Openly supports and advocates initiative
• Removes hurdles and access issues
• Ensures entire executive team awareness
Data Analyst
• Facilitates/requests necessary data for analyses
• Able to configure sophisticated models
• Experienced in appropriate software tools
• Produces sufficient reports as requested by team
Operations Lead
• Understands operational impact (e.g. cost)
• Articulates any process hurdles that arise
• Determines efficiencies/improvements
• Communicates impact with appropriate depts
Subject Matter Expert
• Understands topic/issue at detailed level
• Able to articulate nuances of various options
• Articulates federal, state or insurance subtleties
• Communicate with industry peers for comparison
Technology Liaison
• Deep understanding of impacted technology
• Facilitates adjustments to tech platform
• Recognizes impact to other applications, depts
• Communicates what’s realistic vs. impractical
Project Manager
Provides support, guidance, structure, incentive, regular updates and executive communication for initiative achievement
